Makoto ANDO, Executive Vice President for Research

Makoto Ando assumed office as executive vice president for research at Tokyo Tech in April 2015.

Ando earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in engineering from Tokyo Tech in 1974, 1976, and 1979 respectively. After a three-year stint as senior researcher at NTT's Yokosuka Electrical Communications Laboratories, he returned to Tokyo Tech as research associate in the School of Engineering in 1982, where he became associate professor in 1985.

Ando was promoted to the position of professor in the School of Engineering in 1995, and became professor in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering in 2000.
