The Tokyo Institute of Technology sound logo was created out of the goodwill of Professor Kunihiro Kawano in the Center for the Study of World Civilizations. The logo is a new tool for image building through the power of sound. In the written score, the high-pitched main melody is complemented by a low-pitched harmony. However, when it is played, to the listener the lower part may appear to be louder. Consequently, though there is indeed a musical score, the composer suggests that the sound logo is best understood as a single blended sound, rather than a melody.
