Science Communication for Global Scientists - Overseas Internship -
Outline
How are science and society related and how do they support each other? This internship program allows students to gain hands-on experience at overseas media organizations and science policy organizations where science and society are brought together. Work at the UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) and the Royal Society and participation in the Festival of Science hosted by the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BA) will enhance the overall communication skills of students and help them to consider and learn how society and science should coexist.
Participants are preferably graduate students (Japanese or international) who have taken the interdisciplinary graduate course in "Science Communication and Internship in English."
When: Summer (in August or September) for approximately ten days to two weeks.
Where: London, etc.
Scholarships will be offered.

European Parliament Overseas Internship (MEPI)

European Parliament Overseas Internship (MEPI)
Outline
1.
Students will observe and experience the operations of the European Union (EU) under the supervision of members of the European Parliament (EP) and their assistants in Brussels to learn about the political process in Europe and international relationships among Europe, Japan, and other regions.
2.
The international perspectives and connections in EU organizations developed through this program will help highly experienced Tokyo Tech students expand their career options to include research or staff positions at international organizations.

The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE)

IAESTE Overseas Internship Students in FY2015
Outline
IASTE is an international non-political organization providing international internship programs to students majoring in science, engineering, agriculture, and pharmaceutical science. Tokyo Tech and twenty other major universities send students abroad and accept students from overseas through this internship program. This program seeks to develop engineers with broad global perspectives by giving students opportunities to obtain technical training at corporations or universities in about 80 countries worldwide and to learn, work, and live abroad for periods ranging from 8 to 52 weeks. Living expenses are borne by the host organizations as a rule. Nearly 300,000 students have been exchanged among countries so far. Three to four students from Tokyo Tech participate in this program every year.
Application Deadline: Not later than 17:00 on Tuesday, September 30, 2014
*Pay a test fee of 10,000 yen by Monday, September 29, 2014.
Qualification Test Date: Saturday, October 25, 2014

Vulcanus in Europe

EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, Vulcanus in Europe
Outline
Vulcanus in Europe is an internship program that aims to promote industrial cooperation between the EU and Japan. Under this program, Japanese nationals who major in science or engineering in Japanese universities (both undergraduate and graduate programs) are sent to Europe. The overseas experience lasts one year from April, with four months of language training and eight months of corporate on-the-job training. Scholarships are offered (covering travel expenses, language school tuition, homestay expenses, and corporate training scholarship). Two to four students from Tokyo Tech participate in this program every year.
