Re-Inventing Japan Project

In 2011 Tokyo Tech was awarded a Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) grant in the Re-Inventing Japan Project to establish and run two programs, the TKT CAMPUS Asia Consortium and the World-Class University Alliance for Educating Techno-Scientific Leaders. These two programs accept international students and dispatch Tokyo Tech students abroad with the aim of cultivating global techno-scientific leaders.

The TKT CAMPUS Asia Consortium is a research-oriented joint educational program with Tsinghua University in China and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in South Korea.

TASTE (Tokyo Tech Abroad Short-Term Education)

TASTE provides financial support to Tokyo Tech students who will participate in a summer intensive language program, such as STEP offered by the University of Washington, before beginning a mid- to long-term study abroad or research program through one of Tokyo Tech's exchange programs.

AEARU(Association of East Asian Research Universities)

NEW2017 AEARU International Summer InstituteNEW
Overview
Seoul National University (SNU) is opening its Summer Institute (ISI) to students from AEARU* member universities. The SNU ISI is an intensive summer program taught by distinguished SNU and visiting faculty members that offers its participants the chance to learn in depth from experts on Korea and East Asia, as well as on a range of topics from the disciplines of Economics and Business Management to History, Politics, Sociology, and Arts. SNU ISI also provides courses on Korean language and traditional arts for students wishing acquire or advance their Korean language abilities while immersing themselves in Korea's contemporary and traditional culture. Eligibility: Tokyo Tech undergraduate and graduate students
Number of nominees: 2 students
Fees and Financial Support: Tuition is waived by SNU for the 2 nominees. Participants are responsible for the accommodation fee of US$800, field trip fees of US$260, and other expenditures (ie, international and local transportation, insurance, meals, and academic materials.) A stipend to cover some expenses shall be provided by Tokyo Tech. In the case of international students, only privately-funded students shall be provided with the stipend.
*AEARU (Association of East Asian Research Universities) is comprised of 18 leading research-oriented universities in East Asia. Member universities include Tokyo Tech, the University of Tokyo, Osaka University, Tohoku University, the University of Tsukuba, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Taiwan University, Seoul National University, KAIST, and others.

Selection Procedure
After document screening, an interview conducted in English will be held on

If you are selected for the program, you are required to
-Sign the participation agreement
-Buy traveler’s insurance designated by Tokyo Tech and pay the insurance fee.
Please note:
-Nominees from Tokyo Tech must also apply directly to SNU during the SNU ISI online application period, and participants for the program will be officially selected by SNU.
-Certain internal procedures at Tokyo Tech must be completed in order to certify as Tokyo Tech credits any SNU credits attained by participation in the program’s courses. In some cases, credits may not be certified by Tokyo Tech.

2016 ASPIRE Forum Student Workshop
Overview

Tokyo Tech students are invited to participate in the Student Workshop, a student exchange program organized in conjunction with the annual ASPIRE Forum. Participants will attend lectures and participate in site visits on the theme "developing sustainable urban environments and low carbon economy." In teams comprised of student counterparts from ASPIRE League (*1) and IDEA League (*2) member universities, participants will develop group presentations related to the workshop theme and deliver them to the ASPIRE League's Vice Presidents on the final day of the ASPIRE Forum.

ETH Zurich Student Summer Research Fellowship in Computer Science

 NEWETH Zurich Student Summer Research Fellowship in Computer ScienceNEW 
Overview
The Computer Science Department at ETH Zurich offers a fellowship program that allows master’s and 4th year undergraduate students to obtain research experience at ETH Zurich, a Tokyo Tech partner university, during the summer months. Fellows will pursue a research project that aligns with a chosen area of their interest as part of a research group in the Computer Science Department. (Please refer the program’s web page for information about the seven research groups.) The fellowship includes a monthly stipend for housing and living expenses and also covers travel and visa expenses.
Dates: 10-12 weeks in summer 2017 (June to August)
Venue: ETH Zurich (Computer Science Department)
Eligibility: 4th year undergraduate students and graduate students in master’s courses
How to apply:
(1) After consulting with your academic advisor, submit your online application directly to ETH Zurich.
(2) After the application is completed, notify the International Cooperation Division ( aspiretokyotech@jim.titech.ac.jp ) by email that you applied.
Financial and other support
(1) A monthly stipend of CHF 1,750 to cover housing and living expenses will be provided by ETH Zurich. Travel and visa expenses will be covered. Students can claim the travel costs against receipts at the beginning of the program.
(2) ETH Zurich will provide those accepted to the program with information regarding visa applications (where required) as well as assistance with finding affordable accommodation during the summer research stay.
