Global Scientists and Engineers Course
Tokyo Institute of Technology launched the Global Scientists and Engineers Course as an educational platform for undergraduate students to prepare themselves for global careers. It is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as one of its Promotion of Global Human Resource Development projects. Students participating in the Global Scientists and Engineers Course will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in their areas of expertise to be able to contribute to the solutions of global challenges.
Students enrolled in this course will take classes and participate in the following four programs in addition to doing their regular bachelor's degree coursework.
- Global Awareness Program
Fosters the ability to think in a multifaceted manner from international perspectives and the disposition to engage in global activities.
- English and Communication Program
Fosters English language proficiency and the communication skills necessary to study or work abroad.
- International Cooperation Practice Grounded in Science and Technology Program
Fosters the ability to understand the nature of global issues and recognize constraints, to work cooperatively with culturally diverse people, and to propose innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Overseas Study or International Internship Program
Fosters the ability to take the initiative and work autonomously in other countries, confident in one's acquired expertise and risk management skills.
Given that approximately 90% of Tokyo Tech graduates advance to graduate school, students who complete the Global Scientists and Engineers Course are expected not only to have become global human resources with advanced skills, but also to exercise these leadership qualities in graduate school while engaging in education and research at the world's highest levels.
