Masaki Matsui, 4th-year undergraduate of the Department of Mechano-Aerospace Engineering, will run in the 92nd Tokyo-Hakone round-trip college relay race, Hakone Ekiden.

The course of the legendary and extremely popular race, held annually on January 2 and 3, weaves from Tokyo to Hakone (107.5 km) and then back to Tokyo (109.6 km) on the second day, and is divided into ten sections. Matsui will run the 8th section from Hiratsuka to Totsuka on January 3.

The race includes teams from 20 of Japan's universities and the Kanto Region University Student United Team, made up of top runners from universities that did not qualify, which Matsui will again join. He made the squad in 2014 too, running the tactical 9th section from Totsuka to Tsurumi on January 3, 2015.

The Institute's students and staff are planning to go and cheer on Matsui along the course in Tsujido and Fujisawa. For detailed information about supporting Matsui, please visit the Tokyo Tech Track & Field Club Hakone Ekiden pageouter (Japanese).
