Tokyo Tech Research "Surgical Assist Robots" Video Now Online

Tokyo Tech researchers are making strides in numerous fields, including environmental science, information engineering, electrical engineering, and the life sciences. Tokyo Tech is launching a series of short videos to showcase their research.

The first video, now available on Tokyo Tech's official YouTube channel, highlights Associate Professor Kotaro Tadano's work, in close collaboration with Tokyo Medical and Dental University, on development of a robot for laparoscopic surgery. A unique feature of the robot is its utilization of pneumatic actuators to control surgical forceps. The actuators also provide contact force feedback to the operator.
