Visit by vice president and delegation from Taiwan Tech

Vice President Tuchung Lee and a delegation from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) paid a courtesy call to President Yoshinao Mishima on May 21. Executive Vice President Toshio Maruyama and Professor Kikuo Kishimoto, Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering, also attended the meeting.

After Mishima welcomed the delegation, the Taiwan Tech vice president shared an overview of his university, known for its programs in engineering, management, and design. Mishima then gave a presentation on Tokyo Tech, outlining its history and structure, the education reform, and the Top Global University Project. Conveying greetings from the president of Taiwan Tech, Lee expressed his university's interest in providing Taiwan Tech students with more global exposure through opportunities to study at Tokyo Tech.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Global Scientific Information and Computing Center (GSIC) , which houses the TSUBAME 2.5 supercomputer. Vice Director Takayuki Aoki provided an overview of the facility. The delegation then moved to the Environmental Energy Innovation (EEI) Building for a presentation on the features of the building and its advanced alternative energy technologies by Professor Akira Yamada of the Department of Physical Electronics.

On the afternoon of the following day, the delegation participated in a workshop with Tokyo Tech faculty to introduce their respective research. They later visited several labs.

Taiwan Tech was established in 1974. Located in Taipei, the university enrolls approximately 10,000 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
