An important part of choosing a university is visiting its campus — the lecture halls, outdoor areas, and laboratories — so as to get a feel for the place. This year, Tokyo Tech held its annual Open Campus day on August 8. The slight break in the summer heat was timely, allowing the 15,000 visitors to fully enjoy themselves.

Open Campus has traditionally been held together with the Tokyo Tech Festival, but the events are now separate occasions. In addition to informing prospective students of the 7 academic groups at undergraduate level, this year's Open Campus also focused on introducing high school students to a new education system that will commence in April 2016.

Info sessions regarding Tokyo Tech's reforms and admissions briefings both attracted plenty of interest. Information on the renewed organizational structure, curricula, facilities, and other changes were explained at four separate sessions, all of which drew big crowds.
