The 2016 entrance ceremony for new Tokyo Tech High School of Science and Technology students was held at Ookayama Campus on April 6. This year, 192 students enrolled.
"I hope all of you here today will seize this wonderful opportunity to build your character and heighten your abilities, tackle your science and technology studies with determination, proceed to university studies, and ultimately acquire the fundamental skills required to independently succeed in society," Principal Fumihito Miyamoto expressed his wishes. "We live in a time of continuous change, but science and technology constantly plays a pivotal role. I see in front of me future global leaders who will contribute to the development of Japan and the world.
After congratulatory words from Tokyo Tech President Yoshinao Mishima, PTA Vice Chairperson Yuka Aikawa, and Education Association Vice Chair Susumu Momma, homeroom teacher introductions by Vice Principal Yoshio Nakamichi followed. The ceremony concluded with a student representative taking the traditional freshmen oath.
Tokyo Tech High School of Science and Technology has been designated as a Super Science High School four times by the Japanese government since 2002. In addition to housing experimental facilities on par with universities, it is also steadily increasing its international exchanges with overseas high schools.
The Tokyo Tech community sends its warm congratulations to all new students.
