President Mishima visits Imperial College London

Tokyo Tech President Yoshinao Mishima and his delegation visited Imperial College London (Imperial) on June 7 and 8, 2016.

Joined by Vice President of Institute Strategy Isao Satoh, Mishima met Imperial's President Alice Gast and Provost James Stirling to reaffirm the university-wide agreement concluded between the two institutions in March 2016. Discussions on how to strengthen ties through deeper collaboration were also attended by Associate Provost Margaret Dallman, Associate Provost Neil Alford, Vice President for Innovation David Gann, and Head of the International Relations Office Anne Wozencraft.

The delegation also visited Imperial's new White City Campus. There they met Eulian Roberts, chief executive of Imperial College ThinkSpace, to learn more about the university's expansion plans.

Individual collaborative projects and departmental cooperation between Tokyo Tech and Imperial have existed for over a decade. The former Graduate School of Science and Engineering and Imperial's Faculty of Engineering concluded a student exchange agreement in 2005, while the former School of Bioscience and Biotechnology and Imperial's Department of Chemistry signed an agreement in 2011. In line with the new agreement signed in 2016, a joint event at Tokyo Tech is being planned for later this year to bring together researchers from the two institutions.
