A ceremony to award the second Taki Scholarships was held on July 21, 2016 in conjunction with the Tokyo Tech-TAIST (TAIST) graduation ceremony at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), located within the Thailand Science Park in Pathum Thani Province, Thailand.
Mr. Ukrish Vanichrujee and Mr. Sorawit Amornwutiroj, new students in TAIST's Information and Communication Technology for Embedded Systems (ICTES) course and Advanced and Sustainable Environmental Engineering (EnvE) course, were selected as the recipients.
Funded by donations from Mr. Hisao Taki, Tokyo Tech alumnus (Class of 1962) and founder and chairman of Gurunavi, Inc., the Taki Scholarship provides its recipients with the financial freedom to focus on their studies.
After introducing the Taki Scholarship, Tokyo Tech Executive Vice President Toshio Maruyama presented the grants to Mr. Vanichrujee and Mr. Amornwutiroj on Mr. Taki's behalf. Guests attending the ceremony gave the two recipients a generous round of applause.
