Tokyo Tech's Graduation Ceremonies for academic year 2018 were held on March 26, 2019 at Ookayama Campus. The ceremony for bachelor's degree recipients took place in the morning, while master's and doctoral graduates were honored in the afternoon. President Kazuya Masu, members of the Board, deans and directors, faculty members, and special guests joined graduating students and their families at the ceremonies.
Masu began both ceremonies with a congratulatory speech. He urged the fresh graduates to maintain their open, proactive stance as they moved on to new challenges. Before the conferral of degrees, Tokyo Tech Alumni Association President and East Japan Railway Company Corporate Auditor Yoshio Ishida (Class of 1966, Department of Mechanical Engineering) also addressed the graduates, encouraging them to continue nurturing the relationships they had developed during their time at the Institute.
This spring, Tokyo Tech conferred 185 doctoral degrees, 1,568 master's degrees, 27 professional master's degrees, and 1,062 bachelor's degrees. At the bachelor's level ceremony, representatives from each department received diplomas, and students with outstanding academic achievements were presented with the 2018 Tokyo Institute of Technology Academic Excellence Award. Representatives of each department also received diplomas at the ceremony for master's and professional master's graduates. All doctoral degree graduates received their diplomas individually.
The Tokyo Tech community wishes all graduates continued health and success.
