UAE Ambassador Shihab Ahmed Alfaheem visits Tokyo Tech

The recently appointed Emirati Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Mr. Shihab Ahmed Alfaheem, and Second Secretary of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mr. Ammar Alsamahi, visited Tokyo Tech on April 5, 2021. They met with President Kazuya Masu and Vice President for International Affairs Jun-ichi Takada.

Masu welcomed the visitors and gave an overview of the Institute. In the context of the Tokyo Tech response to COVID-19, Takada introduced online and hybrid exchange programs developed for Tokyo Tech students and their counterparts abroad.

Speaking Japanese, Ambassador Alfaheem thanked Masu for hosting the visit. The ambassador then switched to English and spoke of the relationship between UAE and Japan. Mentioning that 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Ambassador Alfaheem expressed interest in various forms of cooperation going forward.

Following the meeting, the ambassador and his colleague became the first international visitors to tour Hisao & Hiroko Taki Plaza, the Institute's new hub for international exchange.
