This fall, 2 bachelor's program students, 245 master's program students, 11 professional master's program students, and 187 doctoral program students were admitted to the Institute.
In addition to family and friends, new students were joined by President Kazuya Masu, other members of the Board, deans and directors, and Tokyo Tech Alumni Association Director Yoshiaki Tamura (Class of 1978, Chemical Engineering) at the venue.
During his welcome address, Masu began by warmly welcoming the students to the Tokyo Tech community. He encouraged his audience to boldly pursue their own initiatives while taking advantage of the latest facilities and opportunities offered by the Institute. Masu also invited students to explore their entrepreneurial potential, and reminded them that the highly anticipated merger with Tokyo Medical and Dental University will create "increased collaborations and possibilities for all of you to explore."
After the introduction of the members of the Board, deans, directors, and special guests, Dean Taro Yamazaki of the Institute for Liberal Arts offered his words of welcome to the new students.
Director Tamura from the alumni association also shared his message of encouragement with the newest members of the Tokyo Tech community.
To conclude the ceremony, student representative and doctoral student Wenhao Zhang from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering spoke on behalf of the new students about their future at Tokyo Tech.
"We recognize the responsibility that rests on our shoulders: to harness technology as an instrument of peace and prosperity," Zhang stated. "We commit ourselves to knowledge, innovation, and the pursuit of a brighter, more harmonious future for all."
