Saori Kawabata has served as Tokyo Tech’s executive vice president for labor policy since April 1, 2020.
After graduating from the Department of International Legal Studies at Sophia University’s Faculty of Law, Kawabata passed the national bar examination in 1999. She then completed her judicial training at the Legal Training and Research Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan. Kawabata was admitted to the Japanese bar in October 2001.
In 2001, Kawabata joined the Law Offices of Yukawa & Sawara, where she practiced for three years. She moved to the Ohta & Ishii Law Office in 2004, where she continues to serve while conducting her Board member duties at Tokyo Tech.
Kawabata is a member of the Management Lawyers Council, the Special Committee on Employment Law at the First Tokyo Bar Association, and the Mediation Committee at the Tokyo Labor Bureau. She specializes in the area of labor and employment.
