2.      General Rules and Regulations (Course Requirements)

 

2.1    Requirements for the Master’s Degree Program

 

A student who studies for his/her Master’s Degree must acquire 30 credits or more in the 2 year

course study. He/She is required to complete and submit a Thesis and take the Final Examination.

 

A student who has achieved an outstanding research during the course study may be able to shorten the period of study to minimum of 1 year.

 

A student who cannot complete his/her study or Thesis in 2 years may be allowed to extend

the period of study up to 2 years. In this case, however, he/she must submit a complete request

form with approvals of his/her Academic Advisor(s) and the Head of the Department to the

Student Affairs Division (Form 5).

 

A student who is willing to go on to the Doctoral Program must submit an Internal Application Form

with his/her choice of Department within the designated application period and take the entrance examination.

 

2.2    Requirements for the Doctor’s Degree Program

 

A student who studies for his/her Doctor’s Degree must study additional 3 years after the

completion of his/her Master’s course study. He/She is required to complete and submit a

Thesis and take the Final Examination.

 

A student who has achieved an outstanding research during the course study may be able to shorten the period of study. The period of study (Master’s and Doctoral in total) can be minimum of 3 years.

 

A student who cannot complete his/her study or Thesis in 3 years may be allowed to extend

the period of study up to 3 years. In this case, however, he/she must submit a complete request

form with approvals of his/her Academic Advisor(s) and the Head of the Department to the

Student Affairs Division (Form 5).

 


2.3    Degrees Conferred

 

A student who has completed the Master’s or Doctoral Course Program is conferred a Degree:

Master/Doctor of Science, Master/Doctor of Engineering, Master of Arts, or Doctor of Philosophy, in accordance with the field of research he/she has studied.

 

2.4    Long Absence, Return, and Withdrawal

 

A leave of absence from the Institute due to an illness or other inevitable reasons are permitted

from two months up to2 years by a request. A complete request form approved by his/her Academic Advisor(s) and the Head of the Department must be submitted to the Student Affairs Division

(Form 9).

A period of leave of absence will not be included in his/her study period in the Graduate School.

When returning to the Institute, he/she must submit a complete request form approved by his/her

Academic Advisor(s) and the Head of the Department to the Student Affairs Division (Form 10).

 

When a student withdraws from the Institute by an illness or other inevitable reasons, he/she

must submit a complete request form approved by the Academic Advisor(s) and the Head

of the Department to the Student Affairs Division (Form 12).
