3. Guide for Course Study
In the Graduate School, each student belongs to the Department of his/her choice, and study
the curriculum of the Department. For details, please refer to Page 6 - 176 for 2008-2009 Program.
Students who can understand Japanese may take classes offered in Japanese with Japanese students. Refer to the syllabus (English version) of the Department. Some of the classes may be taught in English upon request even though classes are originally planned in Japanese. Please consult the instructor directly.
Students are requested to submit his/her Study Plans within the Application Period to the Student Affairs Division.
3.1 Guide and Rules for Master’s Course Study
A student of the Master’s Degree Course must acquire 30 or more credits to complete and
must meet following requirements:
(1) Principally 30 or more credits must be acquired from the International Graduate Program.
(2) Out of the above 30 or more credits.
a. 16 or more credits from the subjects of the Department student belongs.
b. 4 or more credits from the other Department or Graduate School.
e.g. International Communication Subject,General Course on Humanities, Science and
Technology.
* A student who wish to take subjects from the other Department or Graduate School to
satisfy 16 or more credits as stated in (2)a must submit a complete request form with approvals of his/her Academic Advisor(s) and the Head of the Department to the Student Affairs Division within the Application Period(Form 6).
* Seminar I〜X conducted by the Academic Advisor is Required.
The credits of these subjects belongs to 16 or more credits prescribed in (2)a.
* Set up your Study Plan referring to the Syllabus (English version).
***Above are principle, however, each Department has their own regulations.
Please be sure to consult your Academic Advisor if you have any inquiries.***
3.2 Guide and Rules for Doctor’s Course Study
Required Subjects of the Doctoral Program guided by the Academic Advisor are Seminar(V〜X),
12 credits (2x6) in total.
3.3 Submission of the Study Plan
Each student are requested to submit his/her Study Plan, approved by his/her Academic Advisor,
to the Student Affairs Division within the Application Period. A plan must include
ALL the subjects he/she intends to take including lectures and seminars during the semester.
The subjects will be ineffective if not written in his/her Study Plan.
For any Additions/Cancellation of the registered subjects, a complete request form (Format 3 for an Addition, Format 4 for a Cancellation.) with approvals of the instructor and Academic Advisor(s)
must be submitted to the Student Affairs Division within the Application Confirmation Period.
The numbers besides each subject [2-0-0] shows the credit of the subject.
e.g. [2credits of lecture, 0 credit of practice, 0 credit of experiment].
A student must notify Student Affairs Division when he/she delays in submitting his/her
Study Plan by some unavoidable circumstances.
3.4 Evaluation
A student’s achievement on study programs (except seminars and laboratory works) are evaluated
in examination or a written report at the end of the each semester;
100 (perfect), 60 or more (pass), and 59 or less (failure).
A result will be informed through his/her Academic Advisor.
3.5 Thesis and Evaluation
Thesis submission, Presentation and Evaluation (including the Final Examination) is scheduled
by each Department.
A schedule for the International Graduate Program may be separately arranged.
3.6 Japanese Language Program
A short course of Japanese lesson is offered to the students of the International
Graduate Program. The course will be conducted by the International Student Center.
