Japanese Language Programs at International Graduate School Japanese Language Programs at International Graduate School1 Japanese classes
The International Graduate School offers Japanese classes at various levels, from beginner to advanced, so most of the students can find a class suitable for his/her level. Please check the schedule and venue for each class. There are classes with differing content at each level, so make sure you carefully read the descriptions and select the class which suits you best. After you have decided to join a class, you have to submit your name to both the Administration Office of International Graduate Courses and the Hoko website of the International Student Center (http://www.ryu.titech.ac.jp/) .If you have any questions, contact Prof. Nishina: ext. 3373 or knishina@ryu.titech.ac.jp
2 Proficiency level
You need to select a class/classes which best matches your proficiency level. If you are an absolute beginner or want to revise very basic Japanese, select Jpb1. Otherwise look at the following chart to work out which level you belong to. If you need some advice, please contact Prof. Nishina.

Students who want to register for a class higher than Japanese Beginner 2 (Jpb2） need to take a placement test to confirm their level. The schedule of the test will be posted on the website of ththe International Student Center. Find the placement test online at thesite of the International Student Center.
3 Registration and Classes
Table.1 shows classes in the Autumn and Spring semesters. All of the class titles are shown in abbreviated form s such as Jpb1, which corresponds to Japanese Beginner 1 in the following Class description.

You can find a more detailed description of the course levels at the HOKO website. You can select class/classes according to your level and your particular needs from among the following classes, except for any classes for which you have already obtained credits.
Attention
You need to be careful. You have to maek two different applications for your credit.
A) Class registration after the placement test at the site of international student center
B) Class registration at the Student Division(Kyomu-ka) for credits.

5 Evaluation and Requirements:
A student is evaluated under the following conditions:
1) A minimum of 60% on the final examination is required to pass the class.
2) Additionally, he/she has to attend more than 70% of the classes and also submit any assignments.
