Free screening of documentary film "Newtok" and casual discussion
Published: June 22, 2022
The following face-to-face event will be held before the "Sea Day" holiday in Japan. A documentary movie "Newtok", released in 2021 by Patagonia, an outdoor apparel and gear brand, will be screened followed by a casual discussion on the film. Newtok is an Alaskan village of the native Yupik people close to the Bering Sea. Rising sea levels and permafrost melt-off are quickly swallowing their home village. We hope it will be worthwhile to think and discuss about this topic before Sea Day. Seats are limited, so please sign up early if you are interested!
