We would like to inform you that the following special measures have been taken in light of the current situation of COVID-19 and its impact on society.

1. Applying for postponement of payment of national pension premiums under the “special payment system for students” if student ID card issuance is delayed because of COVID-19.
To apply for the postponement of national pension premium payments under the special payment system for students, please attach a copy of “documents that prove that you are or were a student, etc.” (E.g., student ID card) to your application form. You may still apply for postponement without attaching a copy of your student ID card if its issuance has been delayed.

2. Temporary special procedure, etc. regarding national pension premiums under the special payment system for students
Under the system, students have been able to postpone their national pension premium payments if their previous year’s income was less than the specified amount. Now, however, regardless of the amount of the previous year’s income, students whose incomes have decreased because of the outbreak of COVID-19 may postpone their national pension premium payments.

For details, please contact the municipal office (including special wards), where you reside and are registered, or a Japan Pension Service branch office.
