[Important] New Duration of Validity for Issued Certificates of Eligibility (COE)

The Immigration Services Agency of Japan announced on July 5, 2021 some changes regarding regulations for foreign nationals planning to enter Japan.

The abovementioned changes affect students whose COEs have been issued on January 1, 2020 or later, whose applications were submitted by Tokyo Tech to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan, and who have not yet entered Japan for one or more of the following reasons:


●Visa application not completed
●Currently applying for a visa at a local Japanese embassy or consulate
●Issued visa became invalid


After entry restrictions to Japan are lifted, you will need to (re)apply for a visa and submit a “Statement of Reasons” form issued by Tokyo Tech, along with the COE and other required documents, to your local Japanese embassy or consulate. Please contact one of the following designated offices before you apply.
