NPG Asia Materials was launched by Tokyo Institute of Technology together with the Nature Publishing Group (NPG) in 2008. Now, in the latest release of the ISI Journal Citation Reports, NPG Asia Materials received an Impact Factor of 9.042. This number positions the journal as the No. 2 of all scientific journals published in Asia and among the leading materials science journals in the world.
Tokyo Institute of Technology continues to play a fundamental role in running the journal, with Professor Emeritus Hideo Takezoe overseeing the journal as the Founding Editor and with seven senior faculty members serving on the Advisory Board. Martin Vacha from the Department of Organic and Polymeric Materials works as the Editor-in-Chief, an Ikuyoshi Tomita from the Department of Electronic Chemistry and Tomoyasu Taniyama from the Materials and Structures Laboratory serve as Associate Editors. The journal is fully open-access, and can be viewed freely at http://www.nature.com/am/index.html
