Tokyo Tech-AYSEAS visited Vietnam for the first time since JAYSES (the predecessor of Tokyo Tech-AYSEAS) 2010. This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) fully supported the program as the host university.
In Vietnam, along with 19 more students from the Southeast Asian partner universities, the group visited HUST, several Vietnamese and Japanese companies and a JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) project. At the end of each day, they shared in groups what they had learned during the visits and were given topics to discuss. On the last day, final presentations were given based on those discussions. Between the company visits, they enjoyed sightseeing in Hanoi and its surroundings, and had a cultural exchange day to learn about each other's countries and deepen their friendship irrespective of nationality, culture or religion.
Although the trip was only 11 days, the students were greatly inspired by the lively city and their overseas counterparts. Thanks to this valuable experience, each of them found new challenges to face and returned to Japan with a fresh determination to study.
