Tokyo Tech-MIT International University-Industry Collaboration Briefing

A Tokyo Tech-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) International University-Industry Collaboration briefing was held on November 13 at Tokyo Tech's Ookayama Campus. Approximately 30 companies in a wide range of industries attended.

Professor Yukio Takeda of Tokyo Tech's Graduate School of Science and Engineering gave an overview of the Tokyo Tech-MIT International Industry-University Collaboration. Following this, four other Tokyo Tech faculty members gave presentations in the fields of "energy and environment," "mobility," "medical care and welfare equipment," and "design, production, and standardization." They introduced ongoing research being conducted by the two schools and their vision for social implementation. The presentations were followed by questions from the audience and lively discussions. Kikuo Kishimoto, Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering, concluded the briefing with a closing address.

MIT researchers involved in this collaboration are scheduled to give presentations at Tokyo Tech in December and January. In addition to these presentations, a Tokyo Tech-MIT International Industry-University Collaboration workshop is also scheduled for January 7, 2015.

Tokyo Tech is intently focused on the internationalization of research, education, and industry-university collaboration, and other important activities with the goal of becoming one of the world's top 10 research universities. The Institute plans to actively continue steady collaboration with MIT.
