Renovations on the above-ground floors of the Ookayama Library were completed on January 6. Affectionately referred to as the "cheese cake" because of the building's facade, renovations were undertaken to create space for group study.

Tables and chairs on the second floor were completely replaced with movable units that can be combined freely. This allows the space to be arranged for group study and discussions.
Supporting staff is available on the second floor to provide help for students. Library staff also enhances services by providing seminars on material searches and use of the library's database to facilitate use.

On re-opening day, many students came to check the new tables and chairs. The value of and demand for this space, designed to give students greater learning opportunities, will increase as the amount of active learning being experienced in group work, discussions, and presentations increases in accordance with Tokyo Tech Education Reform.
