President Mishima Receives Courtesy Call from Ethiopia's Minister of Science and Technology Mrs. Demitu Hambisa

The Ethiopian Minister of Science and Technology, Mrs. Demitu Hambisa, accompanied by Ethiopian Ambassador to Japan Mr. Markos Tekle Rike and a delegation, paid a courtesy call to President Yoshinao Mishima on February 17, 2015. Executive Vice President Toshio Maruyama also joined the meeting.

After a brief introduction of Tokyo Tech by President Mishima, the Ethiopian delegation provided an overview of Ethiopia's efforts to promote economic and social development and described the role and activities of the Ministry of Science and Technology in stimulating further growth. The delegates emphasized that they hope to develop human resources in science and technology through cooperation with leading Japanese universities in these fields.

The delegation then met with a Tokyo Tech student from Ethiopia who is affiliated with the laboratory of Professor Hiroshi Yamaura in the Department of Mechanical and Control Engineering. The student explained dynamics, control and tribology of machinery to the delegation. Later, the delegation visited the laboratory of Professor Masahiro Susa and Associate Professor Yoshinao Kobayashi in the Department of Metallurgy and Ceramics Science.
