Dr. Ahmed Magdy Ibrahim El-Gohary, President of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), Masaaki Suzuki, First Vice President of E-JUST, and a delegation visited Tokyo Tech on April 16. Their courtesy call to President Yoshinao Mishima was attended by Executive Vice President Toshio Maruyama and Vice President Hidetoshi Sekiguchi.
From a preliminary stage, Tokyo Tech actively contributed to the project to establish E-JUST, and as a primary contributing university, it has continuously supported three of the Egyptian institution's eight graduate programs. In 2014, the Institute opened the Tokyo Tech Egypt E-JUST Office on the Borg El Arab Campus to strengthen its support system for the Alexandria-based university. The office is Tokyo Tech's fourth overseas and its first in the African and Arab region.
During his visit, President El-Gohary thanked President Mishima for Tokyo Tech's guidance and support. He also explained E-JUST's plans for the establishment of undergraduate programs to be opened in 2017 and sought Tokyo Tech's continuing cooperation.
The delegation also visited the E-JUST support office at Tokyo Tech and participated in a meeting with faculty to discuss further cooperation in education and research.
