Sahil Bansal (TISA, India)

There are not many opportunities for exchange students to meet and get to know the locals. The same goes the other way around. This event provided a good chance for Japanese to make new international friends and we are glad that, through the medium of volleyball, we built a bridge between the international and Japanese students. TISA planned this event with MARCH, Tokyo Tech's volleyball club, who absolutely love to play volleyball and were a huge help in organizing this event. The number of students interested in joining was much higher than expected. All of us really enjoyed playing volleyball and we hope that these awesome people will participate in future TISA activities.

Taishi Sugawara (MARCH, Japan)

As there are no international students in MARCH, it was a challenge to teach international students how to receive and spike a volleyball in English. Still, I really enjoyed the international exchange. Thank you.

Comments from organizers

Eriko Deguchi (TISA, Japan)

We planned this event to provide an opportunity for exchange between Japanese and international students with sports interests. All the participants enjoyed playing the game, and the event turned out to be successful. We would like to continue planning interactive culture and sports events and promoting cross-cultural relationships.

Shinnosuke Kawashima (MARCH, Japan)

Thanks to TISA, we were able to hold this event. Volleyball is a very attractive sport for both experienced and beginner players. I also found that having people of various nationalities participating made the game much more interesting. MARCH has a huge influx of 1st-year students joining every year, and unfortunately, we cannot accept any new members at this time. I sincerely hope we can hold this event again!
