TAIST-Tokyo Tech (TAIST) was established in 2007 at the request of the Thai government. It aims to form research and development centers and produce talented technically innovative individuals. TAIST is being managed in collaboration with Tokyo Tech, NSTDA, and four leading Thai universities, namely King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology of Thammasat University (SIIT/TU), and Kasetsart University (KU). The total number of graduates now stands at 339.

During the graduation ceremony, Dr. Omjai Saimek, vice president of NSTDA, and Dr. Tetsuya Mizumoto, executive vice president of Tokyo Tech, delivered congratulatory speeches. Mr. Shigeki Kobayashi, director of Japan Information Service, representing the Embassy of Japan in Thailand at the ceremony, also congratulated the students.
