In March 2001, Tokyo Tech, Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS), and Hitotsubashi University formed the Union of Four Universities in Tokyo. As part of this collaboration, we conducted university-based COVID-19 vaccinations (first doses) from August 30 to September 3 at Tokyo Tech Front on Ookayama Campus, targeting members of Tokyo Tech, TMDU, and TUFS, as well as residents of Meguro Ward, where Tokyo Tech is headquartered. TMDU not only provided doctors, nurses, dentists, and pharmacists, but also offered its medical expertise in operating mass vaccination sites. With the manpower also provided by TUFS and Meguro Ward, we were able to administer vaccines to more than 4,100 individuals (approx. 2,900 members of the four universities, and 1,200 local residents) during the period. The second doses are scheduled for the end of September.
(Hitotsubashi University has been designated as a Tokyo-sponsored vaccination site for university students and workers.)
