Three students from Tokyo Tech High School of Science and Technology have won the Merit Award in the Senior Challenge category of Singapore International Mathematical and Computational Challenge 2.0 (SIMC2.0) 2022. The contest, held from November 9 to 12, included teams from schools representing 23 countries and regions in the Senior Challenge category.

SIMC is an international mathematics contest which has been hosted every alternate year since 2008 by NUS (National University of Singapore) High School of Mathematics and Science in collaboration with Singapore's Ministry of Education. This year's contest included a new programming component, making SIMC 2.0 more suited to the learning needs of students in the current era.
Tokyo Tech High School of Science and Technology has participated in the contest since 2012, making this their fifth appearance.
The questions at SIMC have gradually evolved, and this year's competition featured a Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) model applied to infectious diseases. With limited time to work on the problem, the three members of our team worked hard while combining our strengths. The report, presentation, and Q&A session in English were particularly challenging. I am very pleased to have received this award as a representative of Tokyo Tech High School of Science and Technology.
