Tetsuya MIZUMOTO, Executive Vice President for Education

Tetsuya Mizumoto has been executive vice president for education at Tokyo Tech since April 1, 2018.

Mizumoto was awarded a bachelor's degree in electrical and electronic engineering in 1979, a master's degree in physical electronics in 1981, and a doctoral degree in electrical and electronic engineering in 1984, all from Tokyo Tech. After beginning his career at Tokyo Tech in 1984 as assistant professor in the School of Engineering, Mizumoto became associate professor in 1987. He was promoted to professor in the Graduate School of Engineering in 2004. From 2010 to 2012, he was director of the Center for Research and Development of Educational Technology. Mizumoto served concurrently as Tokyo Tech's vice president for education and as professor in the School of Engineering from 2012 to 2018.

Mizumoto's research fields include applied optics, photonic circuits, and optoelectronics. He was awarded the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Photonics Society Distinguished Lecturer Award from 2009 to 2011, and the IEEE Fellow Grade for "contributions to investigations of waveguide optical nonreciprocal devices for optical communications" in 2012.
