Education
We live in an age where people around the world are closely interconnected. Today, great value is placed on having a global perspective, regardless of our nationality.
Pressing issues related to population increase, the environment, and energy cannot be solved by individual countries. In order to deal with such global issues, it is necessary to collaborate and innovate with other countries and fully utilize Japanese technology.
Japan's science and technology expertise is continually in high demand, and many Japanese engineers play leading roles in various industries worldwide. Successful global careers are built on international competence, and study abroad programs are an effective means of achieving this.
As many companies continue to internationalize, globally competitive individuals with expertise in science and technology are attracting more attention. Study abroad experience and language proficiency are highly valued by potential employers.

When working in the research and business fields with people from diverse backgrounds, in addition to foreign language skills, it is necessary to clearly communicate the team's goals and direction to its members. Leaders are also expected to conduct and manage projects based on a detailed plan while developing the motivation of the whole team. Students at the advanced level receive training on these skills by participating in programs that are jointly conducted with overseas universities. Furthermore, by deepening their understanding of subjects such as ethics, history, culture, and literature, students develop the necessary intellect required of global scientists and engineers.
Through studying these areas, students develop the broad perspective necessary for working in a global environment.
Students will also acquire the necessary skills for proposing new ideas that benefit society by working with experts from different fields. Through language lessons, students will also brush up their global communication skills.
At the advanced level, GSEC recommends students undergo a study abroad experience lasting eight weeks or more. (For detail, please visit Completion Requirements.)
Based on the skills acquired in this course, each student will plan and prepare a study abroad program and gain overseas experience in order to be ready to join international research activities. The practical experience of study abroad facilitates students' development of new, international perspectives not bound by convention. They acquire creative skills and values that will enable them to make new proposals to individuals and organizations.
There are many kinds of study abroad programs at Tokyo Tech. Below is a list of programs relevant to GSEC. Please find those most suitable for your purpose.
