Our goal is to produce individuals with engineering design abilities — the abilities to solve the various problems that confront humankind and to contribute to the creation of new technologies, values, and concepts sought by society. Along with this, these individuals will be cultivated to possess comprehensive understanding of science and technology and to work persistently to push back existing constraints.

In the Master's Program, we cultivate individuals who have the basic abilities necessary to identify and formulate problems in complex situations in the real world and have the knowledge and skills necessary to express, criticize, and frame thoughts and ideas related to engineering design.
In the Doctoral Program, we cultivate individuals who can create new values for society through research and application of engineering design, can visualize the processes involved to introduce them, and can reform existing set of values for a better society.

  • Knowledge, understanding, and logical thinking ability to flourish as an expert in science and technology
  • Basic expression ability required for engineering design
  • Ability to continuously self-improve by expanding specialist knowledge necessary for research and engineering development

  • Ability to identify with both the research and development and the design aspects of engineering while having the perspective of an engineer with an appreciation for design

Doctoral Degree Program

  • Awareness and ability to understand the significance of the various impacts science and technology can have, and with this in mind, take on unsolved problems with a sense of ethics
  • Ability to accommodate differences in cultures and values, and work together as a team with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Communication and management skills necessary to advance research and engineering development at an international level
  • Creativity and innovativeness to discover new directions after a comprehensive examination of the situation
  • Ability to make engineering design a more established field of study through its research and application
