Ms. Sugihara
Graduate School of Engineering presents its third "Art Meets Engineering@Tokyo Tech" concert, an oboe recital by Yukiko Sugihara, principal oboist of Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. The oboe is a woodwind instrument with a double reed and is said to be the prima donna (analogous to the star soprano singer in opera) in orchestra.
Music pieces that are famous for its solo parts include Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake", Shubert's "Unfinished Symphony", Beethoven's "Eroica Symphony", and Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin". Also, the oboe is well known for its fascinating concertos and chamber music.
In this recital, Ms. Sugihara performs 20th century's masterpieces written for the oboe with her friends. Please join us and enjoy a spring night with beautiful music!
