About Tokyo Tech
In FY2007, FY2014 and FY2021 Tokyo Tech carried out self-assessment and evaluation, submitted a self-evaluation report to the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Evaluation (NIAD-QE) , and underwent the Certified Evaluation and Accreditation of Universities by NIAD-QE.
Tokyo Tech was found to satisfy all standards specified for evaluation and accreditation of universities and received accreditation in March 2008, March 2015 and March 2022, respectively.

[For references] About the Evaluation and Accreditation System
In FY2004, an evaluation and accreditation system was introduced by which all national, public, and private universities in Japan are required to undergo periodic evaluation of their education and research activities by a third-party evaluation and accreditation organization certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) (School Education Act, Article 109, paragraphs (2) and (3) and the Ordinance for Enforcement of the School Education Act, Article 40).

There are two evaluation and accreditation systems:
The Certified Evaluation and Accreditation of Universities (conducted once every seven years), which evaluates the overall condition of a university's education and research, organizational administration, and facilities and equipment, and the Certified Evaluation and Accreditation of Professional Graduate Schools (conducted once every five years), which evaluates the condition of curricula, academic staff organization, and education and research activities of professional graduate schools.

Tokyo Tech has received accreditation for satisfying the standards specified for evaluation and accreditation of universities by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Evaluation in FY2021.
The Certified Evaluation and Accreditation of Universities is a system established to assure the quality of higher education by requiring all universities to undergo evaluation once every seven years by an organization certified by MEXT. Tokyo Tech was found to satisfy all standards in terms of education activities, organizational administration, and facilities and equipment, and was granted the above accreditation by NIAD-QE.
In light of this accreditation, Tokyo Tech will continue to make every effort to increasingly improve the level of its education and research activities, and to achieve recognition as one of the world's leading universities.
Tokyo Tech has received accreditation for satisfying the standards specified for evaluation and accreditation of universities by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation(Currently: the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Evaluation) in FY2014.
In this evaluation report, the following activities were identified as outstanding merits:
- Tokyo Tech has established the Global Centers of Excellence(COE)
which, delivers distinct, cutting-edge education and research opportunities in 12 fields.
- Tokyo Tech was selected as part of the Top Global University Project, which aims to enhance the international competitiveness of Japanese higher education, in September 2014.

Tokyo Tech has received accreditation for satisfying the standards specified for evaluation and accreditation of universities by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation(Currently: the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Evaluation) in FY2007.
The evaluation report states that the outstanding merits of Tokyo Tech are its world-standard research and education center created with the support of the 21st Century COE program, and a number of projects initiated to reform university education with the support of the Support Program for Distinctive University Education (Distinctive Good Practice) and the Support Program for Contemporary Educational Needs (Contemporary Good Practice), the Initiatives for Attractive Education in Graduate Schools, the Support Program for Improving Graduate School Education, and the Support Program for the Internationalization of University Education.

In light of this accreditation, Tokyo Tech will continue to make every effort to increasingly improve the level of its education and research activities, and to become a world-class science and engineering university.
As follow-up to the Certified Evaluation and Accreditation of Universities conducted by NIAD-QE in FY2007, Tokyo Tech prepared a report on the one-year progress of improvements made in regard to matters identified by NIAD-UE, the challenges set in the self-assessment and evaluation, and plans for future initiatives. The improvement plan is included in the mid-term goals and mid-term plan (draft) for the 2nd mid-term period and will be steadily implemented.
Currently, Tokyo Tech is promoting further improvements based on the results of the evaluation by NIAD-UE, and will establish a system for
by improvement of education employing the PDCA cycle.
