Confederation of the Four Universities (Multidisciplinary Program)

In March 2001, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Tokyo Institute of Technology concluded an agreement launching the Confederation of the Four Universities, which resulted in the establishment of several multidisciplinary joint education certificate courses. The four universities seek to expand mutual exchanges and enhance their curriculum offerings through this agreement.

The multidisciplinary courses provide Tokyo Tech students with the opportunity to pursue advanced studies in a specialized field outside Tokyo Tech while continuing their professional and technological education at the Institute. Participating students will be able to gain multidisciplinary knowledge across a greater breadth than was previously possible in higher education. This agreement also provides students with academic alternatives for continuing their studies through transfers or advancement to higher-degree programs at other institutions.

When students in the joint education courses have earned the required number of credits from each participating university in their chosen course, they become eligible for a certificate of completion. Participating students must be registered undergraduates at Tokyo Institute of Technology who belong to a department. Permission to enroll is granted after a selection process by Tokyo Tech's program office and so on.
