Future Leading Innovation Partnership (FLIP) Partnership Curriculum

In March 2001, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Tokyo Institute of Technology concluded an agreement launching the Consortium of the Four Universities, which resulted in the establishment of the Partnership Curriculum. All member universities seek to expand mutual exchanges and enhance their curriculum offerings through this agreement.
In October 2024, the Consortium of the Four Universities became the Consortium of the Three Universities due to the integration of Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Tokyo Institute of Technology.

In July 2025, with the addition of Ochanomizu University as a new member, the consortium was relaunched as the Future Leading Innovation Partnership (FLIP).
Following this, the FLIP International Cooperation Course was established in April 2026 with participation from all four universities, including Ochanomizu University.

Furthermore, beginning in AY 2026, the FLIP mutual learning system was launched across all four universities.

• Courses with three participating universities (four fields)
  • - Overseas Cooperation Course: Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Hitotsubashi University, Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields), and Institute of Science Tokyo (medicine, dentistry, health care sciences, and oral health care sciences fields) *New registrations will no longer be accepted after April 2025.
• Courses with two participating universities (three fields)
  • - Comprehensive Life Sciences Course: Hitotsubashi University, Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields), and Institute of Science Tokyo (medicine, dentistry, health care sciences, and oral health care sciences fields)
  • - Research on Living Spaces Course: Hitotsubashi University, Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields), and Institute of Science Tokyo (medicine, dentistry, health care sciences, and oral health care sciences fields)
• Courses with two participating universities (two fields)
  • - Scientific Technology and Intellectual Property Course: Hitotsubashi University and Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields)
  • - Technology and Management Course: Hitotsubashi University and Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields)
  • - General Arts and Sciences Course: Hitotsubashi University and Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields)
  • - International Technical Writing Course: Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields) *New registrations will no longer be accepted after April 2025.
  • - Economics of Medical and Health Care Course: Hitotsubashi University and Institute of Science Tokyo (medicine, dentistry, health care sciences, and oral health care sciences fields)
  • - Medical Engineering Course: Institute of Science Tokyo (science and engineering fields) and Institute of Science Tokyo (medicine, dentistry, health care sciences, and oral health care sciences fields) *New registrations will no longer be accepted after April 2024.
