Program Outline
The Postgraduate Program for Environmental Designers Contributing to Resilient Cities offers courses and research opportunities leading to Master’s and doctoral degrees either in Civil and Environmental Engineering or in Architecture and Building Engineering. The aim of this Program is to nurture young and excellent talents who can contribute to creating a disaster resilient built environment as highly skilled engineers, architects, governmental officers or researchers. We call such professions as Environmental Designers. Application by individuals from disaster-prone countries with marked economic growth is highly appreciated.
This Program is either for Master’s degree only or for both Master’s and doctoral degrees. Depending on the applicant’s career plan, either can be chosen. The latter is a combined Master's and Doctoral Program and is considered to be one continuous course of study, i.e., even for an applicant who has already earned Master’s degree in the other institution, study has to be started from Master’s level at Tokyo Institute of Technology. This combined Master's and Doctoral program can be completed within three to five years.
