Tokyo Institute of Technology has established the "Code of Conduct for Researchers, Etc. at Tokyo Institute of Technology" based on the "Code of Conduct for Scientists" written by the Science Council of Japan in October 2006.

Misconducts in research activities are fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and misuse of research funds.
Persons subject to misconducts are all individuals affiliated with the Institute or engaged in research activities bearing the Institute’s name (irrespective of whether they are full-time, part-time, or students; whether their title is specially appointed faculty, researcher, research assistant (RA), or other; and whether or not they are the main recipient of research funds).

Names of persons submitting reports and/or receiving counsel must be disclosed. The Institute provides protection from unfair treatment for persons submitting reports (excluding cases where reports are made with malicious intent).

Tokyo Institute of Technology has established the "Tokyo Institute of Technology Plan for the Prevention of Improper Use of Education and Research Funds" for the proper operation and management of education and research funds.
