<Important> Original documents written in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. Translations should be certified by a public institution. Submission of income certificates is required of those applicants with a family member who is a working person and those applicants who are working at the time of application.
Only successful applicants will be asked to submit the original documents of the income certificates for your family member and yourself, immediately after the announcement of the selection results. Therefore, you are asked to keep the income certificate(s) until you receive the ADB-JSP selection result.
When an applicant arranges the necessary documents (i.e., Employment and Income certificates), please make sure that the following points are well included and reflected.
A Certificate of Employment should be issued by a company or an organization according to the following guidelines :
(1) Include the company or organization’s letterhead/logo and the name and title of the authorized signatory.
(2) Include the starting and ending dates of the period of employment (e.g., “January 2016 to December 2017”, “January 2016 to present”). If the present employment period is shorter than 2 years, the applicant must also submit a certificate of employment from their previous company or organization.
(3) If the current status of the applicant’s family member is unemployed, retired or deceased, an authenticated supporting document must be submitted (e.g., issued by the local government).
Income Certificate of an applicant or the family member should be issued in terms of monthly basis or annual basis. Please note that computer-generated proof of income without authorized signatory is not acceptable.
If the income amount is expressed in local currency, fill-out and submit the income conversion form, which is designated by ADB.
If the applicant is single, their parents’ annual or monthly income must be certified and submitted in addition to the applicant’s own certificate.
If the applicant is married, the spouse’s annual or monthly income must be certified and submitted in addition to the applicant’s own certificate.
The Tokyo Tech admission decision will be made based on the application, academic transcripts, related documents, and screening and interview processes (including an Internet-based interview). Notification of admission results will be sent to all applicants in mid-July.
(Important note: Tokyo Tech no longer accept scholarship awardees for April intake.)
The selection result of the scholarship needs to be approved by the ADB, after notification of the admission result. Thus, notification of the scholarship award could be delayed. Regardless of the department you choose, the most important aspect is whether your proposed research field and goals are consistent with the mission and goals of the ADB–JSP program (i.e., the contribution to “development”).
