How to pay tuition

Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Students

Tuition is paid by automatic bank transfer twice a year in principle, in May for the spring semester and in November for the fall semester. Students can also choose a one-time payment in May for the entire year. Bank transfer fees are borne by Tokyo Tech. Please check the tuition transfer schedule below, and make sure that your registered account has sufficient funds to cover the tuition amount by the business day preceding the transfer date.

If the financial institution is closed on the transfer date, the amount will be debited on the next business day.

Notification of the transfer date (① above) and amount will be sent only for cases A and B (about 1 week before the transfer date).

Tuition withdrawn from your account will appear in your bankbook as “SMBC (トウコウダイ.” (Exact wording may vary depending on the bank.)

If you have requested “one payment per year” and tuition for both the spring semester and the fall semester is debited from your account on the same date, two separate transfers will be indicated in your bank book as 3) above.

In the case of payment method B, if there is insufficient balance for the total annual tuition in the registered account, only the spring semester amount will be debited on May 27, and the fall semester amount will be debited on November 27.

After the last available date for transfer (② above), the Accounting Division below will issue a payment slip, so please make payment promptly.

The deadline to register for automatic tuition payment for the fall semester AY 2023 is Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
The registration after October 12 will be transferred from the spring semester AY 2024.

You wish to register an account in a company name. (Registration of an account in the name of a person other than the student can be done online.)

For issuance of designated payment slips, visit the following offices between 8:30-17:15 on weekdays:
Ookayama Campus: Revenue Group, Accounting Division (Administration Bureau Bldg. 1, Floor 1)
Suzukakedai Campus: Accounting Group, Suzukakedai Accounting Division (J2 Building, Floor 4)
Please bring your student ID card with you.

Research Students, Non-degree Students, and International Exchange/Visiting Students

Please pay tuition via Japan Post Bank (Post Office service desks) using designated payment slips. We will send payment slips to applicable students in April for the spring semester and in October for the fall semester. Make sure to pay by the due date below. Automatic bank transfers are not accepted.

Note: The spring semester commences on April 1 and ends on a day in the fourth or fifth week of September specified by the president of Tokyo Tech for each academic year. The fall semester commences on the day following the last day of the spring semester and ends on March 31 of the following year.

Overseas Remittance Information

If you are outside Japan and are unable to arrive in the country by the deadline, you can pay your enrollment and/or tuition fees by overseas remittance from your home country. Please refer to “Overseas Remittance Information” for details.
