Overview

Through AY 2019, Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) organized the Tokyo Tech Winter Program as a short-term inbound exchange program for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at overseas universities to pursue individual research projects under Tokyo Tech faculty supervision.

In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, Tokyo Tech relaunched the Winter Program in AY 2020 as Bringing Ideas in Remote Discussion (BIRD), a virtual exchange program for students from Tokyo Tech and the University of Melbourne. BIRD will be conducted for a third year in AY 2022.

  • Eligibility (overseas)
    -Current undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Melbourne
    *Participants must maintain student status at the University of Melbourne
    during the program.
    *Priority will be given in the following order:
    undergraduate students, first-year master's students,
    and second-year master's students and above.

    Free of charge

  • Number of Participants
    Maximum 20 in total, including up to 10 from Tokyo Tech
    *Competitive selection of applicants will be conducted in case of over subscription.

  • Selection Result
    November 14 December 5, 2022

Program Details

Participants in the AY 2022 program will

1.
apply and expand their knowledge of Technology for Sustainable Food;
2.
enhance their skills through group work with students from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines; and
3.
broaden their international academic and social networks.

Schedule

Program Contents
-Lectures on technologies related to sustainable food
-Introductory session and cultural activity
-Collaboration around the program theme (100 min. × 6 sessions)
-Final presentations

Certificate

A Certificate of Program Completion will be issued to each participant upon satisfactory completion.
