Student Accessibility Services
We envision Science Tokyo as a place where diversity is respected, and all students, regardless of disability, are confident and motivated to engage in study on their own initiative.
To that end, the Student Accessibility Services Section of the Student Support Center is working to promote an inclusive campus environment.
Feel free to contact us to arrange a consultation. Our services are available both to students experiencing difficulties and to faculty and staff seeking guidance on accessibility support or related issues.
Notice: request to students using our services

Who can I talk to?
Students can talk about their needs and concerns with specialized coordinators from Student Accessibility Services.
Will conversations be kept private?
Your personal information, and any matters discussed during a consultation, will be kept private and will not be disclosed to any third parties without your prior consent.
What kind of support is available?
We will help provide individualized assistance. The support we provide will be based on discussions with the students themselves, based on an understanding of the type and degree of disability and in what setting it is affecting the student the most (at in-person or online lectures, during training, while conducting experiments, etc.).
Examples of support
- Identifying individual needs
- Assisting with schedule planning and time management
- Determining impediments to studies
- Finding effective places to study
- Facilitating communication between faculty and students
- Coordinating reasonable accommodations

It refers to making whatever adjustments or changes are possible and appropriate to meet the needs or difficulties of each person.

Accessibility Leadership Program
Science Tokyo promotes educating leaders who will help make society a place for all. This course is offered as part of that goal, and participants can be certified as Level 2 Accessibility Leaders.
What is accessibility?
One definition of accessibility is the ability for everyone, regardless of disabilities, physical characteristics, age, language, culture, or other factors, to use facilities and participate in activities.
There is a question of how “accessible” – how easy to use for as many people as possible – certain sources of information, services, products, and environments are. There is a growing awareness of accessibility as an important perspective to be considered in design, policy, and other areas.
What is an accessibility leader?
Accessibility leaders can promote accessibility in a society made up of diverse needs.
They will have developed an awareness of the diversity found in individuals and communities, among different environments and conditions, and can demonstrate flexibility by thinking across various disciplines.
It is also a title certified by the Accessibility Leader Promotion Consortium.
