Science Tokyo-AYSEAS

Science Tokyo-AYSEAS ("AYSEAS") is organized annually by Science Tokyo and partner universities to bring together students from universities in Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam for a 10-day joint educational program hosted by a participating university in Southeast Asia.

Through site visits, discussions, and group work with fellow participants from different backgrounds, AYSEAS participants learn about and experience the dynamism of rapidly growing ASEAN countries.

Science Tokyo-AYSEAS 2026 will be held in Indonesia, hosted by Institut Teknologi Bandung!

This website is for applicants from AYSEAS member universities.

(1) Applicant must be a regular student (in bachelor’s or master’s course) in a member university

(2) Applicants must have the ability to communicate in English

(3) Participants are expected to join all program activities in Bandung and stay together at the designated hotel. Participants must be able to obtain an appropriate visa and travel to Bandung.

Please arrive at the designated hotel in Bandung by 12:00 noon on August 27.

On September 4, after completing the program in the morning, Science Tokyo participants will travel by bus to Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.

Participants who plan to return home by air may take the free bus to the airport.

The program fee is waived. Participants are responsible for the cost of:

(1) Airfare

(2) Hotel Fee (breakfast included): approximately Rp4,500,000 (subject to change)

(3) Travel insurance

(4) Visa application fee

(5) Personal expenses (meals, drinks, snacks, souvenirs, sightseeing etc.)

Accommodation will be a hotel twin room arranged by the program.

(1) Application: Students who wish to participate should submit the application form at the URL below. A 500-word statement of purpose in English is required.

Deadline: May 20, 2026 at 23:59 Japan Standard Time

(2) The Science Tokyo–AYSEAS Office will forward the application forms to the students’ home universities for selection.

(3) Home universities will nominate successful applicants to the Science Tokyo–AYSEAS Office.

(4) After receiving the nominations, the Science Tokyo–AYSEAS Office will send acceptance notices to each successful candidate and request confirmation of participation.

(5) Successful candidates must reply to the Science Tokyo–AYSEAS Office by the stated deadline (early June).
