The vice president and a delegation from China's Dalian University of Technology (DUT) visited Tokyo Tech on November 11 and met with Executive Vice President Toshio Maruyama. The delegation also visited laboratories in the Department of International Development Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Environmental Informatics and met with DUT exchange students at the Institute.

Professor Mehmet Karaca, Rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in Turkey, met with Executive Vice President Toshio Maruyama on November 11. The two discussed strengthening the partnership between the two universities, which jointly signed a cooperation agreement in June 2012.

Dr. Yves Berthelot, Vice Provost for International Initiatives at Georgia Institute of Technology, paid a courtesy call to President Yoshinao Mishima on November 7. Tokyo Tech Executive Vice President Toshio Maruyama attended the meeting.

Professor Don Nutbeam, President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Southampton, paid a courtesy call to President Yoshinao Mishima on October 10. Dr. Toshio Maruyama, Executive Vice President of Education and International Affairs at Tokyo Tech, attended the meeting.

H.E. Mr. Mihnea Cosmin Costoiu, Minister Delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development of Romania, visited Tokyo Tech on October 9. President Mishima and Minister Costoiu exchanged information on education and research during the meeting. H.E. Mr. Radu Serban, Ambassador of Romania to Japan, accompanied the Minister Delegate for the visit.

Thirteen delegates from the Japan-China-Korea Committee for Promoting Exchange and Cooperation Among Universities visited Tokyo Tech on the afternoon of August 6. The proposal regarding establishment of this intergovernmental expert committee was first introduced and agreed to at the second trilateral summit in 2009 to examine and develop quality-assured exchanges between universities of the three countries.

On July 17, United States Ambassador John Roos spoke at Tokyo Tech. This was the third visit to the Institute by the US Ambassador, following a visit in October 2012, when Ambassador Roos attended a panel discussion, and another in April 2013, when US Secretary of State John Kerry gave a policy speech at the Institute.

President Ahmed Bahaa Eldin Khairy and Vice President for Education Ahmed Abo-Ismail of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) paid a courtesy call to President Yoshinao Mishima on July 3.

On April 15, President Mishima welcomed United States Secretary of State John Kerry to Tokyo Tech. In addition to the three hundred students, faculty and administrative staff members from the Institute, parliamentarians, Japanese government officials, business leaders, Japanese and international media, and representatives from the US Department of State and the US Embassy attended the major policy speech. Mishima hoped the encounter with the US Secretary of State would positively influence the students' futures.
