The Imperial-Tokyo Tech Global Fellows Programme is a five-day camp-training international exchange program that brings together doctoral students from Tokyo Tech and Imperial College London, and offers the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to find solutions to global issues.
The Global Fellows Programme is a doctoral student exchange program launched in 2018. It is based on the Global Fellows Program of Imperial College London, a Tokyo Tech partner university, and organized under liberal arts courses for doctoral students provided by Tokyo Tech's Institute for Liberal Arts.
Taking up several themes from the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations, the programme aims to develop leadership, interdisciplinary and communication skills as researchers, collaboration with researchers from various fields, acquisition of perspectives outside one's field of expertise, cross-cultural exchange, and network building through group discussions, field trips, and poster presentations by Tokyo Tech and Imperial students.
The programme concludes with a poster fair on the last day. The team presenting the best solution for the programme themes will be commended by members of the board.
There will be research opportunities at Imperial's laboratory for Tokyo Tech participants for one to three months. Students should find a host faculty member at Imperial.

Tokyo Institute of Technology, in collaboration with Imperial College London, UK, has been running the Imperial-Tokyo Tech Global Fellows Programme (GFP) since 2018.
In order to develop human resources capable of exercising leadership in the field of science and technology, it is essential that, in addition to research and specialist skills in their field of expertise, they acquire the education and communication skills necessary to take a comprehensive and international view of things and to create new knowledge and value.
GFP is a camp-based international exchange programme in which Imperial and Tokyo Institute of Technology doctoral students from different backgrounds and cultures, transcending borders and research fields, think about issues of global scale. The students effectively acquire the knowledge and skills required of leaders and have networking opportunities that lead to future collaborative research.
We hope that many doctoral students will take up the challenge of this fruitful programme!
