Coronavirus disease(COVID-19)

COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus that is generally transmitted by droplet or contact infection. Fever and respiratory symptoms often last for about a week, and severe lethargy (malaise) may occur. The incubation period is 1-14 days (the average duration is 5-6 days), and the period of possible infection (i.e., the possibility of spreading the disease to others) is from 2 days before to 7-10 days after the onset of the disease.

Influenza is the respiratory infection caused by influenza virus. The incubation period is usually 1-4 days,(maximum 7days) and main symptoms are high fever, headache, cough, sore throat, running nose, joint pain and muscle pain. The systemic symptoms are more serious than common cold.

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis which usually attack and grow in the lungs, causing symptoms like bad cough lasting more than 3 weeks, pain in the chest, and coughing up blood. TB bacteria can also attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain.

Vaccine-Preventable Diseases

From the perspective of risk and health management, members of the Institute are recommended to check their immunization records for measles, rubella, mumps, and varicella. Those with no records or who are not sure of their immunization should consult a doctor at a clinic for vaccination. Also, those who are living in dormitories, should consider taking the meningococcal vaccine.
