Scholarship Opportunities Requiring a University Recommendation

If you want to apply for scholarships requiring university recommendation, you will have to register first.
The student support division will select a candidate from all registered student.

The registration will start in September every year and it is valid until August the following year.

However, if you will graduate (complete) bachelor's or master's program and will go on to master’s or doctoral program, you will need to update your registered information. In that case, please contact the Student Support Division.

New entry students can register before enrollment but your student ID number is required for registration.
You cannot register if you have not arrived in Japan yet. We accept registration from September to Mid August so if you have not arrived yet, please register after your arrival.

1. Prepare all application documents.
Please prepare an image format file (PDF, jpeg etc.) of all required documents.

2. Complete Registration from the Registration Form. 　
We will require you to upload all the application documents.
(Form opens from September 2, 2024.)

3. Receive automatic e-mail.　
Please contact the Financial Aid Group, Student Support Division if you don't receive an email.

All documents should be prepared as an image format file (jpg, jpeg, png, gif, pdf）.

1. 2024-2025 Registration Form for Privately Funded Scholarships (Form PFS-1） 【All students】

　Print out the form and fill the form with your handwriting and save as a image format file.
2. Copy of front side of your Resident Card【All students】
3. Academic transcript　　【Only October 2024 or April 2025 enrollees】

(Not required if you finished the previous course at Tokyo Tech/Science Tokyo.)
4. Copy of Japanese Proficiency Certification 【Qualified students only】

5. Documents to prove your Research Achievement between September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024　

　The most recent one if you have several achievements within the period.
　A. Copy of the paper with peer review_*1　【Students who have a publication within the above period. 】

　B. Copy of the paper without peer review_*1　【Students who have a publication within the above period. 】
　C. Copy of the program of the International Academic Meeting_*2　
　　　　　【Students who have a presentation within the above period. 】

　D. Copy of the program of the Domestic Academic Meeting_*2　
　　　　　【Students who have a presentation within the above period. 】

Registration is available from September 2024 to mid-August 2025.

Applicants will be ranked in accordance with the "Recommendation Criteria for Privately Funded Scholarships". We will decide on which applicants to recommend by referring to this ranking system and consider the eligibility of applicants in function of each different scholarship. We will inform you only if you are selected by the committee.

We cannot tell you when it will be, because it depends on each foundation's schedule. Please note that not all the applicants will be recommended, and that even applicants that are pre-selected to apply for a scholarship will not be successful in obtaining one. The scholarship foundations will assess the applications of candidates that are recommended by Science Tokyo.
If you are not selected as a candidate, there will be no notifications.
